Healthy Fair Organized on World Diabetes Day

The activity is coordinated by a ULS Nursing intern and a professional from the Diabetes Polyclinic, with the collaboration of students of said career and Kinesiology.

This Wednesday, November 19, a Healthy Fair will be held at the San Juan de Dios Hospital in La Serena in commemoration of World Diabetes Day, organized by the Diabetes Polyclinic in conjunction with the Hospital User Care Unit, Nursing students and Kinesiology from the University of La Serena and Nutrition and Dietetics students from other institutions.

The event, aimed at all users of the La Serena Hospital, will take place from 10:30 a.m. to 13:00 p.m. and will feature four stands on healthy eating, physical activity, diabetes prevention, and insulin therapy and its complications. 

The activity aims to ensure that users attending the conference know what diabetes is and how it is prevented through the acquisition of healthy lifestyles, and for those who already have this disease, reinforce their knowledge regarding prevention measures. of complications. This was reported by the coordinator of this day, Isabel Vergara, ULS Nursing intern and professional at the Diabetes Polyclinic, who highlighted the support provided by the professionals Liliana López and María Cecilia Gómez and all the officials of the San Juan de Dios Hospital in La Serena. “who in various ways have contributed to this activity.”

The professional added that during the activity “the official launch of the Insulin therapy video (…) which seeks to be a support material for those who are starting to use insulin, and as a reinforcement method for those who regularly use it, since they often tend to forget parts of the process.”
