test

The test is free, fast and confidential.

This Wednesday, July 10, starting at 9:00 a.m., in the Hall of the Ignacio Domeyko Campus, the campaign "Take the Rapid HIV Detection Test" continues, aimed at students of the University of La Serena.

This initiative is part of the agreement that was signed in 2018 between the ULS, the Student Federation and the Seremi de Salud for the promotion of safe sex, the prevention and control of HIV/AIDS and STIs in the university community.

It is for this reason that the ULS, through its Department of Student Health, together with different CESFAMs from the communes of La Serena, Coquimbo and Ovalle, carry out operations on the different campuses of the University. An example of these operations is the one that took place on July 4 at the Limarí Campus (Ovalle), which ended successfully.

In charge of the operation this Wednesday will be CESFAM Pedro Aguirre Cerda, who will have the support of professionals from the Department of Student Health in taking the test.

What is the rapid detection test?

The rapid detection test is an exam that detects HIV through a finger prick, delivering results in just 30 minutes. The information of the exam result is delivered to the student in a confidential manner.

It should be remembered that 80 service numbers will be given on a first-come, first-served basis and only an identity card must be presented to reserve service.

The campaign will continue to be carried out in the different campuses during the year. The dates of the operations will be informed to the university community through the University's various communication platforms.

benefits1

July 10 is the last day to submit requested documentation.

There are only a few days left to carry out the process of suspension of MINEDUC benefits -Free, fee scholarships and credit from the Solidarity Fund (FSCU)-, which gives the student the possibility of resuming the benefits when, due to force majeure, they must be temporarily suspended His studies.

benefits2The maximum period of suspension of a tuition scholarship is one academic year (two consecutive semesters). In the case of the Solidarity Fund credit, this can be extended for a period of up to 50% additional to the formal duration of the degree, a term that is not postponed or extended if the student decides to suspend their studies; while Gratuity allows unlimited suspension of semesters.

For the suspension of benefits there are eleven grounds for suspension. Reviewing and identifying the cause is the responsibility of the student, who must then support it with the suspension form, plus the requested documentation (as the case may be).

Before carrying out the procedure, the Student Welfare Department recommends that the student request an appointment through its Phoenix platform with the career social worker to receive advice.

The steps to carry out the process are:

Step 1: Make the respective request in the Academic Registry according to the deadlines established in the Academic Calendar.

Step 2: Complete the MINEDUC benefits suspension form

Step 3: Compile the documentation according to the cause of suspension

Step 4: Submit the request for suspension of the Academic Record, the MINEDUC suspension form and supporting documents at the central offices of the Student Welfare Department.

Note: If the student entered via the PACE program, they must request an interview with a program professional.

This process has 2 stages. The University evaluates the cases that meet the requirements and sends them to the MINEDUC, then the ministerial entity verifies the background and authorizes or not the suspension of the benefit.

It is very important that the process be carried out during the deadlines set by the University, since not reporting a suspension in a timely manner may mean the loss of the benefit.
