7 universities participated in the interuniversity meeting organized by the University of La Serena.

The fourth edition of the Integrarte University Network Meeting ended, which brought together 7 universities, public and private from all over the country in the amphitheater of the Santo Tomás University, showing various disciplines such as theater, dance, vocals, prickly pears, among other artistic expressions.

The meeting, organized by the University of La Serena, was marked by the quality of the shows, all performed by students from the 7 participating study houses.

integrate weekend 2This was emphasized by the general director (s) of Student Affairs of the University of La Serena, Alex Arancibia. “We were able to witness a high-quality cultural artistic meeting and best of all it was carried out by university students. We hope to continue strengthening art and culture as a University and this meeting is a clear sign that we are going down that path,” he said.

Sady Leaman, member of the theater group at the University of Bío Bío and student of Social Work at the same university, expressed her gratitude to the organization of the event. “For us it is very important, personally when I joined this group I never thought that we were going to arrive in a city, in a setting like this, it really has been a magical experience for us and thank you very much for the invitation,” she expressed.

Integrarte 2014 had the participation of the Universidad Austral, Universidad del Bío Bío, UCN, Universidad de Concepción, Universidad de Santiago, Universidad Santo Tomás and the organizer, the University of La Serena.

With the presentation of the play "To know and sing" by the theater group (TEUBB) of the University of Bío Bío, a new version of the Integrarte National Meeting began, organized by the University of La Serena.

integrate 2The university meeting is held on the premises of the Santo Tomás University, in the Amphitheater located on Libertad Street #579, and has the participation of the Universidad Austral, U. del Bío Bío, UCN, U. de Concepción, U. de Santiago, U. Santo Tomás and the organizer, the U. de La Serena.

This Friday the 7th, on its second day, Integrarte will have the participation of Ballroom Dances from the U. de Concepción, Tuna Femenina Azahares from the U. de La Serena and the folkloric group COFULS from the organizing studio. 

The finishing touch of Integrarte 2014 will be in jazz, with presentations by the Latin Percussion Ensemble of the Universidad Austral and the Jazz Band of the UCN.

The event is free and open to the community and begins at 10:00 a.m.

This November 6 and 7, the 4th meeting of the Integrarte University Network will be held, organized by the U. of La Serena. 

With the aim of promoting art and university culture, the Integrarte University Network was born in 2010, which this November 6 and 7 will have its fourth meeting, organized by the University of La Serena and will take place in the premises of the Santo Tomás University. .

For this meeting, various artistic presentations will be held, such as theater groups, tunas, folk groups, experimental dance and jazz, among other artistic manifestations. The meeting will last two days and will be attended by the universities Austral de Chile, Bío Bío, Católica del Norte, Concepción, Santiago, Santo Tomás, and the organizer, the University of La Serena.

It should be noted that the presentations are completely free and open to the general public. The event will take place at the Amphitheater of the Santo Tomás de La Serena University, located at Calle Libertad #579.

The team, which was almost mostly made up of first-year players, managed to pass the first round, being eliminated in the top 8 phase of the tournament that brought together the best teams from Chilean universities.


Led by Professor Dagoberto Olivares and composed mostly of first-year players, the soccer team of the University of La Serena managed to be among the 8 best teams in the FENAUDE 2014 national university championship, organized by the University of Chile. 


In their first match, the Serenense squad defeated the UCN team 4 to 3. In the next group match, they tied 0-2 with UMCE, and in the final match that gave them qualification, they tied XNUMX-XNUMX against USACH.


In the round of 5 it was not possible against PUCV, which demonstrated its power by defeating the representatives of the Coquimbo Region 0 to XNUMX. 


Finally, the champion of the tournament was UPLA, which defeated UMCE by 2 goals to 0, in the CDA, thus achieving its first national title.

From Monday, October 20 to December 30, the application system for the 2015 nursery selection will be open.

The “Los Papayitos” Kindergarten and Nursery opened the application system for the 2015 nursery schools, which is valid from Monday, October 20 to December 30. 

In this regard, the social worker of the Kindergarten, Marisol Avilés, stated that Papayitos is an educational project with high quality standards so that the students' sons and daughters can develop important skills early. “Safety, early stimulation, the institutional educational project includes preschool training, infrastructure as well. The garden has a large area, especially so that children can have fun, there are also games that were purchased this year and we are going to install them, there is a multipurpose room where children can experiment with skills such as the reading corner and for continue developing skills in the garden,” highlighted the professional.  

To apply, the following documents must be presented: updated Social Protection form, required score not exceeding 13.484 points; ULS regular student certificate; and a photocopy of the check-ups and vaccinations of the well-child card of the office in which the patient is treated.

Students must go to the “Los Papayitos” Garden, located at Larrain Alcalde 2450. The social worker's office hours are: Monday from 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and Wednesdays from 14:45 p.m. to 18:00 p.m.

The championship brought together the 16 best universities in the discipline.

On October 9 and 10, the National University Table Tennis Championship, FENAUDE 2014, was held in the Indoor Gymnasium of the Austral University of Chile, where the team from the University of La Serena achieved a worthy fifth place among 16 teams that participated in the competition. 

The ULS team was technically directed by Professor Juan Fredes and made up of students Patricio López, Pablo Tello, Rodrigo Contreras and Paolo Paolini, who were able to pass the first phase where they shared a group with the Catholic University and the local University Southern. 

However, in the following round, the match against the University of Valparaíso was lost and the regional representative could not continue advancing. It should be noted that the U. de La Serena team had two first-time students in this type of national competitions among their ranks. 

Finally, Professor Juan Fredes highlighted the level of the team, which is exciting for future competitions. “The team faced national teams as equals, against the public against them, and thus all had a creditable participation in the championship.”

Champions of the Higher Education Sports League

It is worth remembering that a few days ago the ULS table tennis team won the crown of the Higher Education Sports League, a program financed by the Ministry of Sports through the IND throughout the country and whose award ceremony and The regional closing ceremony took place in the Gymnasium of the Andrés Bello Campus of the University of La Serena.

On the occasion, Professor Pedro Vergara, head of the ULS Department of Physical Education and Sports and representative of FENAUDE in the region, noted that “we are proud of the results obtained. This drives us to continue developing sports in higher education. Thank the teachers, technicians and officials, who allowed us to have a great sports tournament.”
