Outstanding participation of the District Tuna in the national prickly pear contest

The group from the University of La Serena obtained first place in this meeting.

The District Tuna of the University of La Serena, made up of students and alumni of the state campus, and dependent on the Department of Extracurricular Activities of the DGAE, had an outstanding participation in the First National Contest of University and District Tunas, held in the city of Antofagasta.

In this event, organized by the University of Antofagasta, the District tunas of the universities of Chile, Valparaíso, Católica de Valparaíso, Católica del Norte, La Serena and the host institution participated, as well as the Tuna Universitaria of the University Federico Santa María Technique.

tuna2La Tuna that represented the ULS was musically directed by Douglas Álvarez and won the awards for Best Pasacalle, Best Bandera and First Best Tuna; the latter, a prize that is awarded to the prickly pear that adds the greatest number of points among all the categories to be evaluated and final presentation on stage. The other categories that were evaluated were: Best Tambourine, Best Instrumental and Best Soloist.

The first place was obtained by the Tuna District of the U. of La Serena, while the UCN group took second place and the University of Chile took third place.

This contest is part of the activities of the National Circuit of University and District Tunas (CNTUD). The Second National Contest of University and District Tunas will be held in 2017 and the Tuna of the ULS will be in charge of organizing this great event.
