Modern Center for Physical and Digital Records was inaugurated at the University of La Serena

The virtual platform brings together more than 19 thousand documents, protected by confidentiality, that are related to the personal and academic history of the students belonging to the ULS.

In order to systematize the information that social workers collect from all students who enter and carry out their studies at the University of La Serena, the institution, through the management and supervision of the General Directorate of Student Affairs, coordinated by the Department of Student Welfare, inaugurated the CERFYD, a center that seeks to safeguard, through a digital and physical platform, important documents of ULS students.

digital center2This modern system, which began to be implemented in 2013 but which today already complies with 100% of the requirements established by Law - which is related to the protection and confidentiality of student records - will further shorten the clearance gaps. information, which means better decision-making for applications and renewal of the benefits granted by the MINEDUC.

During the inauguration ceremony of the new premises where the CERFYD staff and protected warehouse will be housed, the Director of Student Affairs, Mg. Miguel Zuleta pointed out that “this moment marks an important milestone within the University, since it makes visible the effort that all those involved have put into this task of gathering information, as well as making clear the commitment that the Rector of the institution has made. taken in the face of this issue, which makes it clear that the University is relevant and in line with modern times.”

digital center3Likewise, the Coordinator of the Student Welfare Department, Patricia Astroza, indicated that this inauguration of the facilities makes visible the efforts of the social workers who work in the faculties of the University of La Serena, as well as gives them added value to their work. since there are more than 19 thousand documents collected since 2013, which is when digitization began to be put into practice.

Present at the traditional ribbon cutting were the Vice-Rector for Research and Postgraduate Studies, Dr. Eduardo Notte, the Director of Student Affairs, Mg. Miguel Zuleta, the Coordinator of the Student Welfare Department, Patricia Astroza, social workers belonging to the team, and officials who make the good development of the system a reality.

The activity was part of the commemoration of the XXXVI anniversary of the ULS.
