The activity is part of the celebration of the twentieth anniversary of the Tuna District of the University of La Serena.

This weekend the Second National Contest of University and District Tunas will be held, an event that will bring together about one hundred tunes that make up eight groups, which will be presented this Friday 21 at 18:30 p.m. in the Plaza de Armas of La Serena and on Saturday the 22nd at 19:00 p.m. in the Aula Magna of the University of La Serena. Admission to both presentations will be free.

During the day on Friday, the parade and round of the contest will take place in the Plaza de Armas, which will start in front of the Illustrious Municipality of La Serena and will consider a tour of Prat, Matta, Cordovez and Balmaceda streets, ending in front of the Intendancy where a serenade will be held.

While for Saturday the Night of Tunas is contemplated in the Aula Magna of the U. de La Serena (Benavente 980), where the best Tuna, the best Pandero, the best Instrumental and the best Soloist, among other prizes, will be awarded.

The Coordinator of the Department of Extracurricular Activities of the ULS, Mauricio Castillo, expressed that "it is important to highlight the self-management of the members of the Tuna de Distrito, which allows them to develop beyond the academic field. The student who directs the tuna is a student in the area of ​​administration, who is demonstrating the abilities that he acquired in his training process and developing in this area. It should be noted that last year they won first places in different categories and we hope that this year at home they will demonstrate their scrolls, in addition to generating an instance that allows them to share with students from other universities belonging to the tunas that visit us in the contest " .

This contest, which is part of the celebration of the twentieth anniversary of the Tuna District and the activities of the National Circuit of Universities and District Tunas (CNTUD), is carried out thanks to the support of the University of La Serena and the I. Municipality of La Serena.
