Student Health Department presents HIV/AIDS campaign with emphasis on prevention

With the presence of university authorities and regional health representatives, the campaign for the prevention of HIV - AIDS and Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs) led by the Department of Student Health, belonging to the General Directorate of Student Affairs of the University, was presented. from La Serena.

This age group corresponds to university students, so the preventive measures already carried out must be reinforced to achieve greater coverage among them, in addition to implementing strategies with greater permanence in the spaces they visit daily to establish a preventive environment.

It is for this reason that the campaign aims to address HIV from prevention, designing 2 important strategies. The first is related to achieving communication of information through different social media: videos, posters, flyers and tray covers in University casinos, which can sensitize the community on the issue of HIV/AIDS in order to raise awareness. about the importance of prevention. A second strategy is related to generating instances of preventive workshops with ULS students, generating an open dialogue to promote communication among all the actors in the educational community.

The Coordinator of the Department of Health, Dr. Sandra Sacre Mahnert, commented that "the launch of this HIV-AIDS prevention campaign is a valuable initiative for us, so that our young people become aware of the issue, take the prevention measures that appropriate and come to consult early if needed.
