Students with good academic performance were favored with this benefit.
A total of 6 academically outstanding students from the University of La Serena were benefited by the granting of scholarships by the UTE-ULS Alumni Center, Codelco Chuiquicamata Division.
The delivery of the benefits took place in a breakfast buffet at the Central Casino of the University, where Carlos López, president of the UTE-ULS Alumni Center, María Teresa Fierro, Director General of Student Affairs, Mauricio Godoy Seura, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Patricia Astrosa, Coordinator of the Department of Student Welfare, along with the students benefited.
In the instance, the representatives of the Alumni Center talked with the scholars, telling about their experiences as students and highlighting that this type of contribution is a great help for their expenses in the University. He also urged young people who receive this benefit to continue with this initiative as alumni once they have graduated, so that other students can receive these benefits.
Patricia Astrosa, Coordinator of the Department of Student Welfare, said: “we think the contribution they make is tremendously important and valuable. Over the years they have made generous contributions to students of the Faculty of Engineering, in careers that are related to the mining sector, as a way of giving back to the University, expressing the seal of social responsibility that our graduates have ”.
At the end of the ceremony, Carlos López said: “We give students a message of support, joy, optimism and recognition, for being part of this Chuquicamata scholarship. We are honored to support youth, future professionals, and future colleagues. We will continue with our mission, which celebrates 40 years, supporting low-income students of the University of La Serena who have high academic performance and social vulnerability. ”
