The event that takes place every Saturday on the multi-court of the Andrés Bello Campus, is experiencing the defining matches.

The women's futsal championship, organized by the Department of Physical Education and Sports of the University of La Serena, is already in its fourth round, with only one day left to play to find out which teams will qualify for the final round.

The leadership in group A is in the hands of the team made up of the ULS alumni, with 12 points, of course, closely followed by Industrial Civil Engineering with 7 points. In last place is Kinesiology without registering wins or draws.

Meanwhile, in group B, the leading team is Obras Mix with 10 points, followed by Nursing with 6 points. The last place in the group is shared by Journalism and Pedagogy in Basic Education with 1 point.

The top scorer of the tournament is the Industrial Civil student, Sindy Araneda, with 9 goals, second place is disputed by the former students, María José Espinoza and Carolina Pizarro, and the Nursing student, Camila Ávalos, with 7 goals each.

This Saturday the fifth date will be played, where the teams classified for the final round will be defined, which are 3 for each group.

The teacher of the women's soccer team, Álvaro Godoy, stated that the championship has raised great expectations, since the number of teams registered is greater than they expected. “At first we thought that with 6 teams interested in participating we were satisfied, but there was a very important response from 11 teams, among them a team of former students of the University who told us to attend. So far the dates have been developed continuously and systematically,” he indicated.

In the midst of the 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil, women have not been exempt from the World Cup boom. In this sense, Godoy expressed that the passion on the field is also felt in the Futsal championship. “They are the ones who enjoy the games the most, with Chile, with this sport that we are very passionate about, women have equaled men in technical development, in physical development, in the tactical capacity that they have, therefore, see a women's or men's World Cup, one is entertained in the same way," the professor concluded.
