Starting August 21, students will be able to request an appointment with social workers through the Phoenix platform.

As part of the policy to improve the quality of the services that the General Directorate of Student Affairs provides to students, the Student Welfare Department launches a new online time recording system for the social workers of each campus of the U. of La Serena.

Starting on August 21, students will be able to request their appointment time in the online agenda of the social worker that corresponds to their career through the Phoenix platform.

In this sense, the general director of Student Affairs of the ULS, Mg. Miguel Zuleta stressed the importance of the measure. “Within the improvements of the General Directorate of Student Affairs and especially in Student Welfare, for certain processes and throughout the academic year, students will be able to access their social assistant via the platform by requesting an hour,” he explained.

Likewise, the coordinator of the Student Welfare Department, Patricia Astroza, stated that the innovation seeks to facilitate the attention of social workers to students. “It is a new project that continues with the line of modernization of Student Welfare management. Service whose purpose is to facilitate expeditious, fast and efficient attention from social workers on the different campuses, which ensures attention and would prevent long waits from being generated in the future when there are processes of high student demand," she indicated. .

Astroza also added that the white march will hesitate until the national holiday break, and then implement it in its entirety. “We are going to implement a period of white march until before the September break and then definitively implement the exclusive online service system. Eventually, if there are emergencies of course or emergent cases that require attention, obviously there is the use of professional judgment and a student will not be neglected,” he said.

It should be noted that the measure was presented by the Department of Student Welfare in the Plenary Session of the Student Federation of the University of La Serena.

This technological innovation will make it possible to provide timely, expeditious and orderly attention to students, especially in high-demand processes; reduce student waiting times for social worker attention, eliminating lines; and that the student can schedule the interview with the social worker in accordance with their academic activities and available time.

The DGAE invites the student community to make use of this new system, which will have a white march period between August 21 and September 14, to come into full use starting September 22.

Questions about the use of this system can be made at the offices of the social workers on each campus or sent to email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..
