From November 17 to 21, photography for TNE 2015 will be taking place at the Isabel Bongard Campus Amphitheater. On Thursday and Friday the process will take place at the Coquimbo Campus Casino and the Limarí Campus Library respectively.

La National Board of School Aid and Scholarships (JUNAEB) announced a new National Student Card (TNE) for 2015. For this reason, at the University of La Serena the process of taking photographs of students began. It should be noted that in the Coquimbo Region there are more than 18 thousand Higher Education students who must complete the procedure, of which more than 4 thousand belong to the ULS.

Among the new features that the new TNE will have are its strict security measures that seek to avoid falsifications or misuse. Currently the TNE is made based on PVC, however, the institution is working on a new technology that would be implemented starting in 2015. The new format will be polycarbonate, similar to the identity card, which will imply greater quality and durability for the students.

The procedure has no cost, you only have to present the up-to-date identification card and the current TNE.

The director(s) of Student Affairs at the ULS, Alex Arancibia, stressed the importance of students coming to the campuses where the process takes place. “We call our students to do the TNE recarding, which for this week is absolutely free (…), the call is for them to come, all the conditions are met, the process takes less than a minute and we are from now until Friday. We are even going to have a presence on the Coquimbo and Ovalle campuses,” he indicated.

Meanwhile, the director of Junaeb, John Cortés, emphasized the quality that the new TNE will have. “In this new card, the weight, security and quality is better than what it currently is. The idea is that each year the seal is renewed and not the card and avoid tedious processes,” he said.

Finally, the Minister of Transportation, Oscar Pereira, highlighted the importance of respect between public transportation drivers and the students themselves. “The call is to the transportation unions, to the students, that we seek mutual respect and that there is good use of the card,” he concluded.
