The purpose of the Law course is to train Licensed in Legal Sciences, who must practice their profession with ethics and responsibility. It seeks to deliver to the (as) students the knowledge and skills to act in different areas of law, depending on the occupational field.
The law career has a five-year curriculum, divided into semesters, which includes general and basic education; and one of deepening, through the incorporation of optional subjects of professional specialization and, finally, a seminar of investigation and of preparation for the examination of degree.
To obtain the academic degree of Licentiate in Legal Sciences of the University of La Serena, all the subjects of our Study Plan must be approved, the Memory and the licensing examination must be approved. The Study Plan caution that the (as) Graduates (as) can address the new problems, through autonomous learning.
The Bachelor in Legal Sciences, once received the title of lawyer, can freely exercise in his profession providing legal and legal advice to public and private entities. In the same way, he can act as a judge, after complying with the training programs taught by the Judicial Academy. Finally, the academic degree qualifies him / her to continue postgraduate studies of Master's or Doctorate.
The student of the career of Law must possess a critical spirit, an interest in the systematic study and ability to reflect on situations not contemplated in the legal system.

Continuity of Studies: The possibility of developing Postgraduate Programs leading to the Master's Degree in areas of Business, Tax and Labor Law is proposed.
In the same way, it is planned to dictate Diploma in areas of Law such as Industrial Property and Trademarks, Labor Procedural Law, Consumer Law, Free competition and regulated industries, Taxation of Companies, Bankruptcy Law and International Taxation.
