The cycle, which throughout the year showed various topics of general interest, will end with an activity that is associated with an educational workshop.
As part of the cycle of academic conferences “Abriendo Horizontes”, belonging to the School for the Elderly, organized by the Extension Directorate of the University of La Serena, the last conference organized for this year 2014 will be held. The activity titled “Prevention and Care of the Respiratory System in the Elderly”, will be directed by the Kinesiology academic Mg. Álvaro Puelles Díaz.
The invitation is for Monday, November 24, at 17:00 p.m., at the ULS Extension Center, where the academic will seek to teach how to stay healthy from the point of view of respiratory health. In this regard, Álvaro Puelles referred to the objective and the planned modality for the activity. “The format of this conference is to try to make the older adult another student, to feel like a university student receiving top-level information. We are going to try not to be petty in our vocabulary, we are going to talk about things as they are, and if there are doubts or queries, well the idea is also to generate discussion. The objective of this is to make a class done by hand even with the knowledge that people bring, we highly value the experience and all the growth that people have had in relation to this topic (...), we like that there is interaction", he emphasized.
This activity is free of charge and has the collaboration of the Kinesiology Career and the Los Andes Compensation Fund.
Lto practice through a workshop
This activity has an associated workshop to, through practice, raise awareness about how to breathe correctly. "In the workshop we will try to focus on how we breathe, realize it, raise awareness that we breathe, and the other thing is that certain measurements can also be made in relation to the respiratory system, try to compare it with some normal parameter (...), the The idea is to clarify those unknowns that one has when approaching a Health Center,” highlighted Álvaro Puelles.
Registration is open until November 21 or until the available places are sold out with a single value of $2.500 pesos. The activity will take place in the Anatomy Laboratory and Kinesiology Laboratory of the ULS, located on the Ignacio Domeyko Campus, 3rd floor, next to the Central Library, in Anfión Muñoz s/n (between Infante and Benavente), La Serena .
