''Mathematical Stories Cubed'' captivated audiences of all ages

The trilogy seeks to interest in a playful way the understanding of topics such as geometry, arithmetic and algebra.

Numerous students and adults attended the Aula Magna Ignacio Domeyko of the University of La Serena for the special presentation of the play ''Historias Matemáticas al Cubo'', by the Theater Cast of the Directorate of Extension (ETEULS), and which was part of the ULS anniversary activities

With the stories ''In networks with Polígona'', ''Zero Stress'' and ''The Death of Eight'', the public was surprised to learn, with touches of humor and mischief, the importance they have in everyday life mathematics and numbers. This work, as a whole, represents a new way of approaching the teaching of mathematics, since in addition to presenting it in an entertaining way for the public, it represents a source of new ideas so that teachers can carry out their classes in the classroom. 

That is why the free event was attended by enthusiastic teachers who, during a forum held at the end of the presentation, were grateful for the opportunity to attend and learn about a different way to re-enchant their students with these contents.

The play, written and directed by Dr. Catalina Cvitanic, had the special collaboration of guest director Ignacio Cáceres, who has worked for months, perfecting the staging and performance of each of the performers, thus bringing the culture and art.

The stories

mathemagicas work 2''In Polígona networks'', a nosy employee with a different mood, who lives inventing things to annoy her poor employer, a German named Úrsula, who spends her days putting up with this employee who believes she can explain everything through mathematics, accompanied by the subtle interventions of the hippie Luna, a relaxed tarot reader who lets herself be carried away by her hunches and the cosmic energies that surround her. Those in charge of embodying these characters were, like ''Polígona'' Catalina Cvitanic, ''Doña Úrsula'' Lilian Cruz and ''Luna'' Pía Ahumada.

The second was ''Zero Stress'', a very fast and humorous story, which narrates the hardships of Zero, a number that decides to face its fears and try to explain its anxieties and fears to its Psychiatrist. In this play, Daniel Aguayo Salfate acted as the zero, and Rodrigo Garrido, as the psychiatrist, who were applauded by the audience.

Finally, viewers learned the questions of a researcher regarding the disappearance of the ''eight'' and what would happen in everyday life if a number did not exist.

ETEULS will continue to venture into the staging of theatrical works with familiar content, which allows not only to share a pleasant moment, but also to know and understand in an entertaining way, content as interesting as those proposed by ''Historias Matemágicas al cubed'', whose scripts also They can be requested to work in the establishments, as indicated by their director.
