University of La Serena integrates the Regional Table of Artistic Education 2018

The formation of the Regional Table was part of the VI Week of Artistic Education.

As part of the lines of work developed by the Directorate of Liaison with the Environment and Extension of the U. de La Serena in recent times, thanks to its participation in the different tables and networks at the level of higher education, art and culture, and connection with the environment, on this occasion the DIVEULS has accepted the invitation to join the Regional Table of Artistic Education 2018. It is in these instances that the study house seeks to contribute to the strengthening and linking of the National Plan for Arts in Education with the Regional Policy 2017 - 2022.

In the meeting to form the Regional Table, which was part of the VI Artistic Education Week (SEA) “The Expression of Difference”, different artists, educators and managers from public institutions and private sectors participated, all with the same objective of continuing with the work developed by the previous tables of 2016 and 2017.

In this regard, the Director of Liaison with the Environment and Extension of the University of La Serena, Dr. Catalina Cvitanic, pointed out that this is an excellent opportunity to contribute to regional artistic education. “For DIVEULS it is very important to participate in this type of actions that invite us to contribute and contribute to the promotion of Arts and Cultures. We consider it very relevant that this work is aimed at training and artistic awareness in the community, but above all in schools, an objective that we have sought to promote for several years, through theater, concerts, visual arts, among other activities." .

What is the SEA?

Art Education Week is an international celebration, promoted by UNESCO that seeks to “raise awareness in the international community about the importance of artistic education; and promote cultural diversity, intercultural dialogue and social cohesion.” In Chile it is organized by UNESCO, the Ministry of Cultures, Arts and Heritage, the Ministry of Education, the University of Chile and Balmaceda Arte Joven, and is aimed at students from schools and high schools in the country, the teaching stage. where the development of the arts and creativity play a fundamental role in generating subjects who are more free and aware of their environment.

This 2018, between May 14 and 18, the VI version of the SEA is celebrated under the motto “The Expression of Difference”, inviting each child, young person and teacher to connect through the artistic experience. with their own identity and diversity, recognizing them as constitutive of their being, to be able to express them and build spaces for exchange and creation in which difference is appreciated as a value. In this programming, the ULS included two activities: “Guided Tours of the ´Venturelli Exhibition: Territory, Origin and Freedom´” and “Guided Tour of the Open Air Museum on Av. Francisco de Aguirre, La Serena”.
