Nicolás Rauss returns to the region to conduct the third concert of the Universidad de La Serena Symphony Orchestra

The program will be inspired by Germany and its most famous composers of romanticism, in which it includes the masterful interpretation for horn by the soloist Gerson Pierotti.

“Music is at the same time depth, communication and emotion, but it is also synonymous with a lot of pleasure. For all those who attend this new seasonal concert, they will surely leave very happy or emotionally touched, and that is what I hope most for," said Nicolás Rauss, the energetic maestro born in Geneva, Switzerland, who since the year In 2013, he served as artistic director of the University of Santiago Symphony Orchestra (USACH) and, on this occasion, he will arrive in the regional capital to meet again and work with the University of La Serena Symphony Orchestra and his first horn, the Brazilian Gerson Pierotti.

The first was in mid-2016, and this year he is preparing to host a new and fascinating program of 'The Symphony of Cultures' inspired by the German influence and the architectural, commercial and cultural imprint left by the first immigrant families who They arrived in La Serena during the 50s.

With the Germanic force as the protagonist of this third concert of the 2018 season: 'Deutsche Tradition', the public will be able to enjoy a repertoire as dynamic as it is select. “Germany has a large number of good classical composers and I can assure you that we will offer a beautiful program, very attractive and composed of works that are quite suitable for the format and size that this orchestra currently has,” Rauss said. As part of its repertoire, the ensemble belonging to the Network of Regional Professional Orchestras of the Ministry of Cultures, Arts and Heritage will present iconic works of romanticism, such as the 'Coriolanus Overture', Op. 62' by Ludwig van Beethoven , 'Träume de Wesendonck Lieder' by Richard Wagner, 'Overtura, Scherzo and Finale, Op.52' by Robert Schumann and the 'Horn Concerto No. 1, Op.11' by composer Richard Strauss, performed by soloist Gerson Pierotti .

The corn player born in Tatuí, State of Sao Paulo, Brazil, delved into the piece he will perform this May 25, at 20:00 p.m., at the La Serena Municipal Theater. “This presentation will be musically very diverse and beautiful. “It is a work that exemplifies very well the history and spirit of the French horn, with many clarinets during the concert,” said the musician, adding that the mastery and inspiration of Richard Strauss positioned him as one of the great composers of the XNUMXth century. “He comes from a family of extraordinary musicians and artists, his father, Franz Strauss, in addition to being an excellent teacher, was an excellent corn player, one of the leading players of his time. Therefore, Richard knew very well what he wrote and knew how to extract the most virtuous essence of the corn player through music.

3rd concert3Regarding his debut as a soloist with the Universidad de La Serena Symphony Orchestra, the young musician expressed gratitude and excitement for the experience of playing as a soloist under the baton of such a notable conductor: “it is a great pleasure to be able to work alongside the maestro Nicolás Rauss, since he is a director with a vast artistic career. This experience generates great expectations and responsibility in me, I have a feeling of gratitude for the opportunity to debut as a soloist on this beautiful occasion,” he indicated.

French horn master classes

Before its premiere in the concert inspired by the Germanic country, Gerson Pierotti will offer an interesting masterclass on the instrument in the city of La Serena, aimed at all musicians and students in the territory. The objective is “to add knowledge to the attending horn players, addressing technical aspects to the students and in this way, encourage the study of the instrument. It will be an opportunity to get to know each other, to interact and exchange knowledge, generating an instance of community study and talking about the universe of music from a cornist's point of view,” he noted.

The free activity will take place next Wednesday, May 23, at 15:00 p.m., in the MECESUP room of the Music Department of the University of La Serena. “I extend the invitation to all students who wish to participate, to attend this French horn class, as it will be an interesting learning moment,” added the musician.

Those who wish to participate in the French horn masterclass must only show up at the ULS Department (Larraín Alcalde s/n°, between Los Jardines and Seminario) on the day and time of the event.

3rd concert4As for the III Season Concert: 'Deutsche Tradition', inspired by great Germany, the general public will be able to pick up their tickets at the La Serena Public Library (Colón #495, corner Balmaceda) and/or at the Gabriela Regional Library Mistral (Juan José Latorre #782). While school students and students from the University of La Serena should go to the Extension Office of the ULS Music Department (Larraín Alcalde s/n, between Los Jardines and Seminario). Those who are unable to withdraw their invitation will be able to purchase tickets at the municipal venue box office on the same day of the event, with prices ranging between $3.000 for the general public and $2.000 for seniors. While school students and students from the University of La Serena must present their credential.

It should be noted that this presentation corresponds to the 2018 season, which is developed thanks to the Ministry of Cultures, Arts and Heritage, from whom it receives part of its financing through Glosa of the National Budget since 2016; in addition to the support provided by the University of La Serena, the Illustrious Municipality of La Serena, through its Department of Culture and the Municipal Theater.
