caleta los ovens book

This is the fourth publication by the Universidad de La Serena Publishing House so far in 2019.

Next Thursday, April 4, at 18:00 p.m., the presentation of the book “Caleta Los Hornos: images, memory and history” by researcher José Aguilera will be held in room I of the Gabriel González Videla Historical Museum (Matta 495, La Serena). The invitation is open to the community, with free entry.

In this regard, the person in charge of the Publishing House of the University of La Serena, Alejandro Abufom, highlighted that “this book is a research by the former ULS student, José Aguilera Martínez, in which he rescues the origins and history of his people, because he came to live in Caleta Los Hornos when he was very young.”

In addition, he added that "it is an interesting book that tells the history of the cove, which in turn could be the history of most of the coves in our country and tells how this group of quite long-suffering and brave people is formed, fundamentally of fishermen at the beginning, of pirquineros especially in our area, and how thanks to the tenacity, perseverance and ingenuity of these people, today we have a number of wonderful coves that have become tourist centers, with restaurants. , with whale sightings, like what happens in the Coquimbo Region. It is a highly recommended book.”

This publication corresponds to a project financed by the private Traditional Culture Fund in 2018 of the Regional Government of Coquimbo.
