The exhibition seeks to take the works out of the classrooms and show them to the community.

The fourth exhibition of the 2014 Exhibition Cycle, organized by the Extension Directorate of the University of La Serena, will show the community the work of a continuation of workshops that show the progress of the students in the study of the Architecture degree in the University of La Serena. The inauguration of “20 years, 20 projects” will take place on Tuesday, August 19, at 17:00 p.m., in the ULS Exhibition Hall and will be open to the public from August 20 to 29.

This exhibition from the School of Architecture of the University of La Serena will show the students' first steps as architects, making projects for public spaces, housing, neighborhoods, communal facilities and regional facilities, even. “The most special workshop is workshop 10, where students begin to develop their degree projects, and therefore, they are already projects with a more authorial profile, they are not as standard projects as the previous workshops, but they begin to give "takes into account the concerns of the students as future professionals," said the academic of the Department of Architecture, Alejandro Orellana, who is in charge of the exhibition together with the academic Freddy Sepúlveda.

This activity is carried out every year in the premises of the same School; However, on this occasion, due to the anniversary of the School of Architecture, which celebrates 20 years of its creation, the academics have decided to make the community part of these works that they carry out in the classrooms. This has significant value both for the authors and for those who attend the exhibition.

"It seems important to us that the University is linked to the community, we are the only state university in the region, we are a regional, regionalist university, we are committed to the development of the region and we believe that the ideas that students are generating can be a contribution to the community, and on the other hand it is important for the students themselves to see that their work is recognized at the level, not only of the career, but at the institutional level, of the University, and on the other hand they are known by the community Orellana said.

Regarding the possibility that interested schools can coordinate their guided visits to appreciate the exhibition, academic Orellana announced that “there is the opportunity to coordinate a visit with a course that is interested in the Architecture exhibition. We can offer them a guide, explaining what is on display, the projects and the general framework of how Architecture is studied.”
