Entertaining panoramas are those offered by the University of La Serena for the regional community and visitors during these holidays.

“Universidad de Los Ninos 2015”, “Friendship Week between Chile and Japan” and “Summer Shows” make up the attractive program that the University of La Serena has during this month of January. Programming that promises to integrate adults and children, starting with Japanese culture, continuing with vocational and artistic workshops, and ending with summer shows that characterize the ULS.

From January 5 to 9, the VIII version of the Friendship Week between Chile and Japan will be held, a meeting of cultures, already traditional in La Serena, which will offer for this opportunity a Japanese language workshop, a conference, a attractive exhibition of Japanese calendars, workshops with Japanese techniques such as: amigurumi, bookbinding, manga drawing and Butoh dance. Of course, the program also includes the Tea Ceremony, the Cosplay Contest and a new Butoh Dance show.

Architecture, design, kinesiology, nursing and chemistry make up the first workshops on offer, to which are added robotics with Lego, improvised singing (for 2 age ranges), theater and children's theater. Finally, the offer includes the Making Radio and Construct Video Games workshops.

One of the most striking workshops is the one called “Making Radio”, taught by professionals from Radio Universitaria FM, a ULS station that once again opens its doors so that minors can learn about the facilities of this means of communication (control room, production and booth), and the entire process to put a radio product on the air. In this regard, one of the workshop speakers, Rodrigo Gutiérrez, referred to this second version of the proposal. “The truth is that it has all the members of the radio very motivated because in the first incursion we saw a great interest from the children in knowing what the radio medium is and how it works. The main objective of this summer version is for children, from the moment they enter the radio, to know the means of communication, how it works and also trying to make them participate in a voice-over session in which they will learn to speak, they will record and they are going to edit a commercial advertisement, that is, they have to learn the complete process from recording to final editing and it is a very interesting and fun objective,” he said.

In January we will present a concert. We have also been developing a pedagogical theater project for several years, which focuses on recreating Mathematics, on January 15 we will premiere a new work of this genre 'Who Killed 8?', revealing Mathematical Mysteries,'” he stated.
