In an ordinary session held this Friday, April 19, the Honorable Board of Directors of the University of La Serena unanimously approved the proposal for the new Institutional Development Plan (PDI) 2024-2033, which establishes five strategic axes: Strategic Management and Institutional Resources; Teaching and Results of the Training Process; Internal Quality Assurance; Link with the Environment; and Research, Creation and Innovation. Likewise, the Academic Council did the same.

This new institutional “roadmap” establishes strategic guidelines, vision, purposes, missionary values, policies and indicators for each of the axes.

The Rector, Dr. Luperfina Rojas, appreciated that this new Plan has had the unanimous support of the highest collegiate bodies of the institution and that the process has been collaborative and participatory. “The Institutional Development Plan 2024-2033 is a decidedly ambitious roadmap, which embodies the vision of our university to contribute to the sustainable development of society, through quality and relevant Higher Education. Through the determined commitment of our entire university community and the cooperative work between its different actors, it will be possible to achieve the challenging objectives outlined in this Plan, to which this university aspires to continue contributing, through academic management based on the highest standards of quality and relevance, to the full and inclusive development of society, cementing an education committed to social justice and the harmonious progress of the country,” said Rector Rojas.

The authority added that "only through a collective effort and an integrative vision will it be possible to consolidate a leading institution in the task of training global professionals, committed to regional and national needs, from a perspective of excellence, sustainability and integrity."

To prepare this Plan, the Institution had the collaboration of more than 60 people who worked in the five commissions that generated the proposals. Added to them are the more than 1.300 officials, academics and students who responded to the surveys and who actively participated in the focus groups and in the various instances that were defined during the process.
