The virtual headquarters of the event was the University of Valparaíso, who managed its implementation by bringing together the different representatives of the Library Systems of the Universities belonging to CABID.

Beginning with the greeting of the General Director of Undergraduate Studies of the University of Valparaíso, Mr. Osvaldo Bizama on behalf of the Academic Vice-Rector of the same University, the First Ordinary CABID Meeting aimed to present the progress of the work of the Permanent Advisory Commission of Libraries and Documentation of the Council of Rectors (CRUCH), through its Subcommittees on Regulations, Communications, Databases and Standards.

During April 28 and 29, the CABID team shared topics related to the collection of base indicators that will be published through its communication channels, that is, its website and social networks, in addition to the collection of data for the Libraries yearbook, the willingness to generate a new principle associated with inclusion and accessibility, the 2021 work plan of the Communications subcommittee, among other relevant aspects.

In this regard, Mg. Héctor García, CABID Vice President and Head of the ULS Library System, said “This meeting has allowed us to learn about the work carried out by the different subcommittees of this organization. There are several important challenges that are foreseen mainly in relation to digital resources, their evaluation, selection and future scenarios are a relevant point to be able to generate good practices among our libraries to generate more and better services for our users.”

It should be noted that the CABID Commission has representatives from different Universities in the country who work together to guarantee the quality of the Library Systems of their respective houses of study, in addition to encouraging collaborative work between university libraries.

Opening a space for dialogue and community participation, both students and related institutions in the territory, the Publishing House of the University of La Serena promotes the initiative “Books Improve Life”, a program where a course of students from the institution and academics/researchers will discuss and analyze the contents of a book published by Editorial ULS. The inaugural meeting will be around the book “Young people on the margins of school institutions”, on Tuesday, May 25 at 11:30 a.m., an opportunity in which, in addition, there will be the participation of Dr. Alberto Moreno, author and editor of the book.

The manager of the ULS Publishing House, Alejandro Abufom, stated that this event seeks to “generate a conversation between authors, students and representatives of institutions (JUNJI, INTEGRA), who will have already read the book, so it will not be a typical presentation of a new text, but a dialogue full of questions between the participants and a stimulating exchange of points of view.

Abufom also pointed out that the book is already being worked on with a class of ULS students, by academic Dr. Desireé López de Maturana, who "is doing a magnificent job with her Pedagogy in Early Childhood Education students."

If you want to attend this activity, remember to follow the YouTube channel Linkage with the ULS Media and connect to participate in this event open to the public.
