Registration has begun for the second version of the Baby Soccer Championship “ULS Titled Cup”

The Brazucas, a team made up of students and graduates of Civil Engineering, Architecture and Industrial Civil Engineering, are the current champions of the tournament.

After the successful first version of the Baby Soccer Championship “UPS Titled Cup”, held in 2014, the Andrés Bello Campus of the University of La Serena will once again be the setting for students, graduates and professionals trained in the classrooms of this house of higher education students are reunited with their alma mater thanks to sports, in the event organized by the Graduate Monitoring Office of the Directorate of Institutional Studies and Planning.

The interest of members of the ULS community of numerous generations has been so high that the organization decided to expand the number of participants. In this way, if in the first version there were 8 teams that left everything on the field to win the trophy, this time the teams will be able to reach 12.

Until May 4, at 16:00 p.m., registration is open for the tournament that will begin on the 18th of the same month. Each squad may have a maximum of 8 players (5 on the court) and a minimum of 5 (3 on the court). The duels will take place on the Campus baby soccer field (in front of the Gymnasium, Avda. Raúl Bitrán 1305, La Serena), every Monday starting at 18:30 p.m. and on Wednesdays from 19:30 p.m.

Cup 2The event seeks to link students, graduates and/or graduates of the University of La Serena with their alma mater through recreational and sports activities; develop and promote the sport, as well as the interpersonal relationships of the participants; generate contact networks in favor of the early labor insertion of students and graduates; and disseminate activities of the Graduate Monitoring Office, whose work is part of the Alma Mater ULS project (CRUCH-MINEDUC University Strengthening Fund) and its collaborators.

This will, then, be a new opportunity for former classmates, perhaps today colleagues, as well as current students and friends who are studying different undergraduate programs, to wear the same shirt and demonstrate their sporting talent. 

In 2014, “Ágora”, “Los Canallas”, “Física FC”, “Trapiche's Clan”, “Los Brazucas”, “Gatos Guatones”, “Toby's Club” and “Computación FC” gathered their stars and gave life to the first version of the Championship, which was held by “Los Brazucas”, the team with the best performance throughout the tournament and which also included the competition's top scorer.

Group stage and final

For this year, the modality is as follows: a draw will define the members of groups A and B, who will face each other. At the end of this first phase, the best 3 from A and B will form the Gold Group, while the next 3 will go to the Silver Group.

Once again, everyone against everyone in each G will compete to get the most points, with the first two Gold players reaching the grand final of the tournament and the next two from the same Group to compete for third place.

In the case of Silver, the two best will also fight for the title of champion of their division. The matches will be played in two 20-minute halves, with 5 minutes of rest.
