From Monday, April 20 to Thursday, April 23, activities will be held to commemorate International Book Day, organized by the Library System of the University of La Serena and aimed at the university community.

The activities begin with a film series to take place at 11:30 a.m., in the Audiovisual Projection Room of the Central Library, and includes the exhibition of the films: “Man of La Mancha” (Monday the 20th), “Wuthering Heights” (Tuesday the 21st) and “The Da Vinci Code: Unveiled” (Wednesday the 22nd).

While on Thursday the 23rd, at 16:30 p.m., in the room on the 2nd floor of the Central Library, the conference will be held: “On the book, the reading of Gabriela Mistral”, by Dr. Rolando Manzano, director of the Mistralian Center of the University of La Serena.

Book Day is celebrated worldwide on April 23, the day that commemorates the death of three great writers of universal literature: Miguel de Cervantes, William Shakespeare and the Inca Garcilaso de la Vega.

The celebration arose from a UNESCO initiative in 1995, with the aim of valuing books and their authors. In addition, it seeks to stimulate the love of reading, promote the publishing industry and the protection of intellectual property through copyright.
