Editorial ULS is awarded Culture Funds to participate in the International Book Fair in Mexico

filuni 2019 1 1

The programming of this event includes the participation of 7 university publishers that, together with Ediciones UC, will participate in FILUNI 2019.

The Publishing House of the University of La Serena will benefit from funds that will allow it to finance the attendance - during the entire duration of the event - of two people from the Publishing team at the III International University Book Fair (FILUNI), which will be held at the National University of Mexico (UNAM), in Mexico City, between August 25 and September 2 of this year.

The project corresponds to an initiative that is framed in the agreement signed by the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile and the direct beneficiaries, among which is the University of La Serena. Said study house (PUC) applied for the ProChile contest, Exporter Promotion Project, which grants 50% of a project. The other 50% is financed by Chilean university publishers.

The programming includes the participation of 7 university publishers that, together with Ediciones UC, will participate in FILUNI 2019, setting up a stand in which different publications from these publishers will be exhibited, hoping to publicize the production of Chilean universities, strengthen ties - through co-editions - with the rest of the university publishers in Latin America, to position and market Chilean university books in Mexico and the rest of Latin America.

For Alejandro Abufom, in charge of the ULS Publishing House, this initiative “is part of the international projection plan that we are developing in our Publishing House. Attending these fairs is very important because of the contacts that are made there.” And, furthermore - adds Abufom - “it complements what we are already doing on the web, by gradually placing our entire catalogue, in digital and paper versions, available to readers around the world, on different global platforms, such as , Amazon.”

The publishers included in the project are: Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, Universidad Tecnológica Metropolitana, Universidad de La Serena, Universidad de Talca, Sociedad de Desarrollo Tecnológico de la Universidad de Santiago de Chile, Editorial Universitaria, Ediciones Universitarias de Valparaíso de la Pontificia Universidad Catholic of Valparaíso and Alberto Hurtado University.
