Dr. Fabián Araya Palacios, Dean of the Faculty of Social, Business and Legal Sciences (FACSEJ), was invited to present a conference on historical and geographical thinking in the auditorium of the Faculty of Education of the University of Concepción.

“Historical-geographical thinking: challenges for teacher training” is the name of the conference where our Dean presented the talk “Development of Geographical Thinking: Contributions to the training of future teachers of History and Geography”; before authorities, academics and students of Pedagogy in History and Geography of the University of Concepcion, within the framework of the Fondecyt Project N°1221872 “The development of historical thinking skills to live in society. Tensions, challenges and proposals for the Chilean school system.

This instance of participation was generated thanks to the invitation made by Dr. Carlos Muñoz Labraña, researcher responsible for the Fondecyt project mentioned above, to the Dean of the FACSEJ, with the aim of delving into and making the conceptual and methodological contributions known to the public present. and didactics of future teachers of Pedagogy in History and Geography.

Regarding the exhibition presented at the University of Concepción, the Dean of the FACSEJ described it as a “very interesting instance, because the students of Pedagogy in History and Geography at that university do not have subjects in which they can study the didactics of geography, so they felt very interested in the talk.” In addition, the Dean took the opportunity to present those present with teaching material generated by the students of the Pedagogy in History and Geography and Pedagogy in Basic General Education courses at the University of La Serena.
