The students who participated in this event were able to learn details and requirements to apply for the different scholarships offered by the German Academic Exchange Service.

With the aim of informing about the offer of scholarships for undergraduate and postgraduate students to study or carry out research in Germany, in addition to resolving various doubts from students of the University of La Serena interested in carrying out an academic exchange in said country, the Service German Academic Exchange (DAAD Chile) held an informative talk coordinated by the ULS International Relations Office, where students from different careers from the university participated.

The talk was given by Claudia Rodríguez, study advisor at DAAD Chile, who detailed the different scholarships offered to pursue undergraduate and graduate studies, as well as to carry out research in Germany, the requirements that each of these scholarships have, the application periods and the study houses to which you can apply. In addition, she answered the different questions that the students had to clarify the situation regarding their applications for these scholarships.

Regarding the holding of this talk and the work carried out by the university together with the DAAD, the Director of International Relations, Mg. José Mora indicated that “the collaboration we have with the German Academic Exchange Service is long-standing, where we have been able to share students, both from Germany who have been to our university and from our university who have done internships there. Every year we disseminate the different scholarships that this agency gives us and that are complementary to the rest of the internationalization initiatives that our university maintains with German study houses, since it is important that our students are constantly kept informed from the first source.

For her part, the DAAD Chile study advisor, Claudia Rodríguez, highlighted the importance of being able to hold these informative events with students directly, indicating that “for us as DAAD it is super important to carry out these talks and go out to regions, since it is a fundamental part of our work, because we know that centralization is very pronounced in Chile and reaching the regions with information is one of our tasks, since it is important that people have the information in hand and from the first source. ”.

Along with this, he added that “the meeting was excellent, everyone was very interested with very good questions. It is super stimulating to talk to a group of people who are attentive, who ask questions and are attentive to the information they are given.”

One of the students present at the activity, Julián Rivera, fourth year of Chemistry, referred to his interest in studying in Germany and thanked the university for holding these events. “The main interest is because chemistry was practically born in Germany, since the entire base is there and that is why it is one of the countries that interests me the most to be able to continue my studies. I feel that there I will have more opportunities to develop myself better in chemistry and that the university of these opportunities is something super important, since it allows us to inform ourselves about the different options we have to develop our studies abroad directly.”
