Within the framework of the 2024 Admission process, the University of La Serena has implemented an Application Support Center with the purpose of guiding and clarifying the concerns of students who took the PAES and who hope to enter the universities attached to the Admission System. Access to Higher Education Institutions.

In the center - which runs from January 2 to 4 from 9 a.m. to 16 p.m. and on January 5 from 9 a.m. to 13 p.m., at the Ignacio Domeyko Campus, different stands were set up where professionals from OAME, DIDOC, DGAE, AGDFI and UGIP could guide and inform about the application process for both ULS and different universities as well as student benefits. In parallel, an online chat system was implemented on the admission.userena.cl page, with a team of professionals to virtually support this process.

The person in charge of Admission and Enrollment ULS, Alex Arancibia, detailed the support that has been provided at the center, indicating that during these 4 days “we have professionals trained to provide support both in the application on the DEMRE platform as well as for the application to benefits, in addition to providing access to equipment so that students can apply on their own.”

Along with this, he provided recommendations when choosing a professional career. “The first thing is a vocational issue, students must know what career they want to pursue throughout their lives. The second thing is to take into consideration the score obtained in the PAES and meet the requirements of the careers they wish to study to enroll,” indicated the person in charge.

The Application Support Center has been attended by students who were able to apply for the different careers offered by the ULS and who chose the regional study house as the first option for their professional training.

This is the case of Anaís Vega, who approached the application center, where they provided her with the necessary guidance. Regarding her choice, she indicated that “I chose ULS because for the career I want to study, it was the best and most appropriate for the type of professional I want to be later. Several teachers that I had during my education were from the University of La Serena and I appreciate it very much.”

For his part, Maximiliano Araya, a student who also applied at the Support Center, explained: “I applied for the Civil Mining Engineering career at the ULS because of various opinions from teachers and family, they said that this career was more complete here. at the University of La Serena than in other universities, with a broader network and with more possibilities to perform professionally.”

It is important to highlight that the application to the University of La Serena is governed by the general procedures for all Higher Education institutions attached to the Council of Rectors. The registration and application deadlines are those indicated in the Admission Guide to Chilean Universities, which is published on the page www.demre.cl. This information, which is disseminated year after year, contains the official and definitive information regarding careers, vacancies, weightings and requirements necessary to apply for any ULS career.
