The “Summer Research” Workshop was an initiative of the Department of Economic and Business Sciences (DECIEM) and is aimed at encouraging research and improving the institution's teaching.

With the notable participation of ULS managers, academics and students, the first day of the event was held in the EIDOC Executive Room, in which research topics linked to both teaching itself and the areas of entrepreneurship were addressed. gender and sustainable development, within the framework of continuous improvement for the quality of ULS undergraduate and graduate training processes.

In this regard, Dr. Erico Wulf, DECIEM Director, highlighted the commitment of the participants, emphasizing the need to work towards continuous improvement, according to the new institutional requirements.

Regarding the theme of the first day of the Workshop, he indicated that “the purpose of the research is that when the teachers arrive at the classroom, they can also take part of their own investigative work and transmit it to the students, achieving a dual purpose: to improve the quality of teaching, in terms of content, and on the other hand, encouraging students to engage in research.”

For her part, the Director of Research and Development, Dr. Karina Stücken, who participated by speaking about internal research support programs and funds, positively valued both the holding of the workshop and the initiative to create research incubators with students from the Faculty, so he took advantage of the opportunity to reinforce the invitation to the academic and teaching community to work collaboratively around research.

“There are economic resources and we have different support systems for academics to do research. As an example, scientific writing workshops are held and foreign researchers from the audit area or areas that interest them can be brought in to give them seminars here,” said Director Stücken.

In this way, the first day of the Workshop concluded with a reflection activity, to continue the next day with activities aimed at "analyzing the experiences of teaching models, practical cases, learning and trends."
