Symphony Orchestra celebrated the 43 years of the University of La Serena with a captivating Mozart program

The musical event featured the virtuosity of the renowned French violinist, Liza Kerob, and the impeccable direction of the Chilean maestro, Rodolfo Fischer.

Before an Aula Magna packed with people, the University of La Serena Symphony Orchestra presented its First Concert of the 2024 Season, thus celebrating a new anniversary of its home of studies, hand in hand with an inspiring program with three iconic works by the great Austrian maestro Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.

For this occasion, the opening of its year of activities was conducted by the Chilean maestro Rodolfo Fischer, Musical Director of the Valdivia Chamber Orchestra (OCV), and the virtuoso soloist invited from France, Liza Kerob, concertmaster of one of the most important symphonic ensembles in Europe, the Monte Carlo Philharmonic Orchestra in Monaco.

The Rector, Dr. Luperfina Rojas Escobar, highlighted the great prestige and trajectory of the regional orchestra, as a professional member of the ULS and as an active participant in culture and links with the environment: “For us as the University of La Serena, we have always It has been an immense pride to have this important orchestra and to count on it on each of our anniversaries. The OSULS is a key protagonist for the development of music and culture in our region,” he expressed, adding that “it is a great joy to witness the high attendance of the public that was part of our forty-third anniversary: ​​general public, academics , officials and students.”

The I Concert of the 2024 Season included a rehearsal open to the public and, subsequently, its traditional Gala Concert, presenting a completely Mozartian program, along with the 'Schauspieldirektor K.486 Overture', the very famous 'Violin Concerto No. 3, K. 216' performed by the bold and brilliant guest soloist, to culminate with Symphony No. 38 in D Major, K.504 'Prague'.

Pamela Bello Pinochet, attending the Gala Concert, expressed her joy and satisfaction after enjoying this long-awaited presentation with her family: “I loved the concert, very exciting and happy to witness the great talent of foreign artists and such a consolidated orchestra.” as is the Orchestra of the University of La Serena. The First Concert that began this season had the valuable collaboration and coordination of the Valdivia Chamber Orchestra, the French Embassy in Chile and the French Institute of Chile. Likewise, the 2024 OSULS Season has the support of the University of La Serena, through its Directorate of Liaison with the Environment and Extension (DIVEULS) and its Cultural Scene program, and the vital financing of the Ministry of Cultures, the Arts and Heritage by being part of the Network of Regional Professional Orchestras.
