Vicuña and La Serena will be the scene of the first cycle of chamber concerts of the 2018 season

The string and wind ensemble of the La Serena University Symphony Orchestra promises a musical journey through the baroque period, with works by Vivaldi and Bach.

May prevails with another long-awaited musical proposal. These are the captivating seasonal chamber concerts, which year after year the ensemble belonging to the Network of Professional Regional Orchestras of the Ministry of Culture, Arts and Heritage offers in different destinations in the territory. On this occasion, the event will take place in two communes in the Province of Elqui.

concert2The inauguration of this first series of concerts in an intimate and at-home format will be starred by the string and wind ensemble of the professional ensemble, led by Leonardo Godoy, Ramiro Álvarez, Cecilia Olmos, Pamela Morales and Vanessa Flores (violins), Daniela Gayoso and Poliana Brehmer (violas), Ana María Vega and Monserrat Trujillo (violoncello), Andrés Carvajal (double bass), Alonso Araya (harpsichord), Rodrigo López (flute), Francisco Ramos (bassoon), Sergio Fuentes and Cristian Monreal (trumpets ), who promise a musical journey through the European continent and renowned composers of the Baroque period, such as Antonio Vivaldi with his pieces “Concerto for two trumpets in C Major”, “Concerto for bassoon RV 484” and “Concerto for two violins and continuo in D Minor, Op.3 N°11”, ending with the “Orchestral Suite N°2 BWV 1067 in B Minor for flutes and strings” by Johann Sebastian Bach.

This presentation will begin with the territorial extension concert in the heart of the Elqui Valley, next Thursday, May 10 at 20:00 p.m. at the Municipal Theater of Vicuña (San Martín Street in front of the Gabriela Mistral Plaza de Armas). A free event, without withdrawal of invitations, which is carried out thanks to the management and collaboration of the Department of Community Organizations, through the office for people with disabilities of the Elquina commune.

In the words of Mayor Rafael Vera Castillo, inaugurating this series of concerts in his commune is synonymous with pride: “for Vicuña it is an honor to once again have the presence and professionalism of the Universidad de La Serena Symphony Orchestra, even more so if in our commune we open a new season of music. From now on we leave all our neighbors invited to fill the Municipal Theater of Vicuña, and enjoy this series of chamber concerts, which comes to our commune thanks to the management and good relationship that we have maintained for several years with the group. professional in our region,” he assured.

School students and those of the University of La Serena can go to the extension office of the ULS Music Department (Larraín Alcalde s/n, between Los Jardines and Seminario).
