The day provided information about the expert report and what are the characteristics that a psychologist who is going to dedicate himself to this area should consider.

A new conference was given within the framework of the “Psychology and Contemporary Society” cycle, organized by the Department of Psychology in conjunction with the Directorate of Liaison with the Environment and Extension of the University of La Serena. On this occasion, and thanks to a collaborative alliance with the Cuatro Esquinas Community and Cultural Center of the Municipality of La Serena, Mg. Paola Denmark, Director of the ULS School of Psychology, gave the conference “The psychological expert report and its main characteristics”.

Psychological expert reports consist of a document prepared by the forensic psychology expert at the end of the exhaustive evaluation and analysis process of the people involved in a judicial process. In this activity, the academic addressed what forensic psychology is, expert evaluation, what an expert is, and psychological expertise in general.

Generally speaking, for example, almost all cases that come to court become judicialized and come to a point where expert evidence is cited. In that sense, it is important to know what are the characteristics that a psychologist who is going to dedicate himself to this area must have, in terms of how to train, also that he must know the laws, that is relevant, but at the same time he must have a respect also in this case for his client, what his rights are, whether he is a victim, witness or perpetrator, and therefore, give advanced conclusions from psychological science.”

This conference was held at the Cuatro Esquinas Community and Cultural Center municipal facility, in a cooperative alliance to bring the academy in a different way to the community. The Mg. Paola Denmark referred to this change that the cycle that has been carried out since 2012 in university facilities has had: “it is a new perspective of also opening up to the community and how it could be realized in the dynamics that were generated here, as As the exhibition progressed, people began to focus on personal aspects that they had to experience, so it is about bringing the academy closer to people's daily reality, in a simpler language and also understanding that psychology is not something abstract. , but rather it has to do with situations of each of the experiences that people live.”

The cycle includes three conferences in the same municipal space. To end the semester, on July 25, “Sexually diverse: updating basic aspects” will be held, taught by Mg. Natalia Guerrero.
