“New Music” will star in the second chapter of "Our Sounds"

The composer and academic Fernando Guede will be the guest of the second installment of this cultural space created by Radio Universitaria FM, thanks to financing from the National Music Fund 2018. The program will be broadcast this Saturday, July 28 starting at 20:00 p.m. hours on 94.5 FM in La Serena and Coquimbo.

Radio Universitaria FM of the University of La Serena will broadcast this week the second chapter of its new cycle of programs called "Our Sounds: Musical Creators of the Coquimbo Region", dedicated exclusively to the dissemination of regional authors and musicians.

This project, promoted by the Department of Corporate Communications of the ULS, is the winner of the 2018 National Music Fund, Chilean Music Radio Broadcasting line, within the framework of the work to celebrate the 55 years of existence of Radio Universitaria FM.

For those who tune in to the radio station, this program will be broadcast fortnightly, with the second guest this week being the prominent regional composer, Fernando Guede. This academic from the ULS Department of Music has a degree in Music with a major in Composition from the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile.

Guede began his studies in 1997, under the tutelage of the composer Alejandro Guarello, graduating in 2001 and before entering the composition career, he studied piano with the outstanding pianist Ariadna Colli, since his school days, which motivated the creation musical from his early years.

This author has extensive compositional activity and within his works he encompasses both solo, orchestral and chamber formats, undoubtedly privileging the latter type of grouping. His works have premiered at the country's main festivals and stages, in the hands of high-level performers.

His music is framed within the aesthetics of the so-called “New Music”, being a faithful representative of the academic trend that has influenced contemporary music since the second half of the XNUMXth century.

He currently works as an academic in the counterpoint chairs of the Department of Music of the University of La Serena and the Institute of Music of the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile.

“Our Sounds” is conducted by Rodrigo Gutiérrez, in addition to the musical production of Daniela Banderas, an academic from the Department of Music at the ULS, who has selected the nine musical creators from our area, who represent the sound diversity that emerges in our territory and especially in the training and academic field existing within our University.
